Electroplated bond helps to reduce the friction and heat generated by grinding wheels, but encapsulating the materials within a bonding compound is more efficient. These wheels typically use cubic boron nitride (CBN), which is extremely hard, or diamond, which is an extremely hard substance. Diamond plated wheels hold their form longer and bond more strongly.

This bond consists of metal plating (preferably nickel) which binds the grain to the body. Its high strength allows the bonding layers to be thin and a greater proportion of the grain to protrude. Electroplated bond grinding tools are used for the polishing process.   

Electroplating can provide diamond tool manufacturers with the advantage that they can re-plate diamond wheels in “like-new” condition. This extends the life of the initial investment.

 It is easy to make CBN wheels that are complexly shaped by electroplating a bonding agent and to mold the wheels in a grinding tool. This bond is used for machining complex surfaces with high grinding efficiency and without dressing.

Profile grinding wheels can be made with an electroplated bond and manufactured after client drawings. The bodies can be applied with a fresh coating and an electroplated bond to worn grinding tools.

Specially selected grades of blocky natural or synthetic diamond & CBN are used for our pins. This ensures smooth free-cutting action with minimal heat buildup & long service life. Our unique plating process provides exceptionally high bond strength, reducing the risk of premature pull-out of diamond / CBN abrasive grains. The blanks are made of medium carbon steel, which is tougher than ordinary mild steel, in order to minimize bending of the shank during use.
